Annual Memphis Youth Talent Show Accepting Submissions – FOX13 News Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. “It’s time for the young people of Memphis to perfect their craft!” The annual Memphis Youth Talent Show is fast approaching and Memphis Youth Services is currently accepting entries.

This comes at a time when teenage violence has increased.

Seria Ross, employment program specialist at the Memphis Youth Services Bureau, tells FOX13 that the annual talent show is a great way to keep young people out of trouble.

“It allows them to focus on their talent and keep them busy with their talent,” Ross said.

Submissions are being taken now until Sunday, October 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Ross says the organization receives hundreds of submissions each year. J

he talent show is in its 4th year and it helps showcase the talent that resides in Memphis. Finalists also have the chance to win a cash prize.

“10 finalists will compete to receive a $1,000 prize for 1st place, a $500 prize for 2nd place, or a $250 prize for 3rd place,” explains Ross.

Once the finalist is selected, at the end of November, the finalist will perform in front of the judges during the virtual talent show. To enter the first round, applicants are asked to film a one-minute video showcasing your skills and then submit the video via Instagram. You will message your video submission to the Memphis Office of Youth Service Instagram page, @OYSMemphis.

Ross tells FOX13 that outside of showcasing the talent that resides in the city of Memphis, the cash prizes can really help the winners move forward in their future.

“It could be a senior citizen and that thousand dollars could be used for senior dues or for college applications. Regardless of grade level, we want to make sure that that money, that they’re using it in a way that will help them or help them get ahead,” Ross said.
