ST. GEORGE- Local artists are invited to audition on Thursday for the opportunity to showcase their talent at the upcoming 4th of July celebration.

Artists of all types are being sought for the “Star Search Talent Show,” which is part of the upcoming 4th of July celebration. Auditions will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the St. George Recreation Center, located at 285 S. 400 E., according to a press release issued by the City of St. George. Interested persons should register online.

“We know there are a lot of talented people in St. George who are eager to show off their skills,” Aaron Metler, St. George’s racing recreation supervisor, said in the press release. “Thanks to our generous sponsor, State Bank of Southern Utah, we will once again be providing exceptional packages to our winners. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating our nation’s birthday and sharing the freedom to reconnect.

The show brings a diverse range of performance to the stage, including singers, dancers, comedians, songwriters and magicians. Each act must be less than four minutes long, and performers must bring their own instruments and digital devices that serve their performance.

The top five finalists in each category will be notified by Saturday if they qualify for the performance. The Star Search Talent Show will take place July 3 at Historic Town Square on the Main Stage at 10:30 a.m. as part of the 4th of July celebration.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each of three age categories (10 and under, 11-17 and 18 and over), as judged by a panel of community leaders. Applicants must pre-register to audition for a spot on the performance schedule (no exceptions) and pay a $5 audition fee, according to the release.

July 3 events mark the return of one-day festivities to commemorate America’s birthday and include Independence Carnival, 4K Uncle Sam Race, Parade, Games, Hot Dog Contest , the Diaper Dash and more.
